Niall and Angus Jeffrey at Bielgrange, Dunbar
The Jeffrey family, long standing customers of Dods of Haddington, run two spring calving herds over three farm units. The 300-hectare lowland Bielgrange farm and 240-hectare upland Weatherly farm run 250 Aberdeen Angus cross sucklers. The business also contract farms 160 Aberdeen Angus cross suckler cows at Halls Farm.
Different grass mixtures have been used across the farm in recent years. Most recently these have included our long term Evergeen and Capital mixtures which both have high clover contents.
To increase grazing tolerance and longevity of the sward a special mix of 100% diploid ryegrass, clover, plantain and festulolium is currently being used for upland rotational cattle grazing.
